Fayez B. Shenouda, 72, of Hazlet, N.J., formerly of Kearny, N.J., and Komombo, Egypt, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 1, 2017. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, 132 Highway 34 South; Holmdel, NJ 07733. Interment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro, N.J. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, November 3rd from 7 to 9 p.m. In 1976, Mr. Shenouda immigrated to the U.S. from Egypt in search of the "American Dream" with only seventy five dollars in his pocket. He worked various jobs until becoming the second proprietor of Ali Baba's Mobile Diner No. 1 in Jersey City, N.J., and then later worked at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, NJ. Very devoted to his Coptic faith, he was an active member of his church, St Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Holmdel, NJ, where he served as a deacon. He and his wife, Mary, were proud founders of St. Antonious & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in East Rutherford, NJ. Fayez also served as a board member for the church for many years before moving to Monmouth County, NJ. Mr. Shenouda was the beloved husband of Dr. Mary Shenouda; the devoted father of Irene Shenouda, and Maureen Shenouda; the cherished grandfather of Gabriella, and the loving brother of Victoria Nakhla, Philip Shenouda and Victor Shenouda. Fayez was predeceased by his sister Samira Shenouda and brother Samir Shenouda.
