Christiana Mojola

Christiana Olusola Abosede Mojola, 83, of Harlem, N.Y., passed away on Monday, May 14th at Calvary Hospital. 

Mrs. Mojola was born in Lagos, Nigeria; the daughter of Daniel Davis and Frieda Davis (nee Labenjo). She was married to Dr. Jolaolu Olusegum Mojola the love of her life. Unfortunately he was killed by a stray bullet to his heart and lungs in their apartment 20 years ago. It was an enormous loss. The stress she went through that evening was unbearable but she managed and survived through the years after.

Mrs. Mojola left her home in Nigeria in search of education in London, England in the 1950s. She attended Oxford University in 1953; she did her practice as a student Nurse at Victoria General Hospital in Scotland and then went to Simpson Memorial Maternity also in Scotland in 1958.

She went back to London and worked at Queens Charlottes Maternity Hospital, St. Mary Abbots Hospital in Kensington London and at Chiswich Maternity Hospital London England before moving to Manhattan New York in 1960. The first thing she did was to receive an American education so, she attended classes at NYU while working at Manhattan State Hospital, Ward Island, as Psych-nurse and also worked at Lenox Hill Hospital, NY, NY. Lastly she worked at Mount Sinai until she retired.

For hobby, Ms. Moloja attended the National School of Dress and Design and Hazel Sharper Intern School of Charm and modeling, Drama and speech.

Mrs. Moloja traveled extensively with her husband, read voraciously, enjoyed sports, bicycling and Arts and crafts. She met and helped as many people as she could, especially children.

She has left her marks, an impression so overwhelming in the world of Nursing. She supported numerous friends and family. She was always ready to assist. This truly confirms the saying that what counts most in life is not just to live...but to live right. She will be missed.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday, 5/23, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm. Interment at Arlington Cemetery, Kearny at 1:30 pm.
