After nearly eight weeks of fighting, Charlson Champagne, 61, passed away on Thursday, June 17th 2021 due to covid-19 complications.
The eldest of seven, Charlson was born to Louis Champagne Sr. and Carmen Champagne in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in 1960. As a teenager he moved to Montreal in Canada's Québec province to finish his schooling and at the age of 20, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of private first class.
Charlson was a hard working father who drove yellow cab taxis in New York City for over twenty years. He spoke four languages, was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed “resting his eyes” when the New York Knicks were on TV.
He is survived by his siblings, his children Tiffany, Carl, Christina, Leonardo, Valerie, Fabiola and Coelie and countless friends who grieve his loss fiercely.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Thursday, 7/1, 9:30 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial 11;00 am at St. Aloysius RC Church, Jersey City. The burial will take place on Friday, 7/2, 11:00 am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Visiting on Wednesday, 6/30, at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
