Desmond Anthony Gomes

Desmond Gomes, beloved husband and soon to be father, passed away unexpectedly. He was only thirty-two. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Born to Magdalina and Ranjeet Gomes on December 23, 1990 in New Delhi, India. Desmond grew up as the youngest of two. His older brother Lt. John Lucky Gomes, who he looked up to, predeceased him.

Desmond met his wife Amy in college of 2012. From then until the summer of 2015, life was innocent, sweet, and blissful. Despite the obstacles they faced together and the loss of his brother, Desmond and Amy continued to be each other’s strength. His humble, kind, and helpful nature never failed him even when dark times came and changed him deeply.

His wife Amy is grateful Desmond was her leap of faith and part of his spirit will continue to live on through their first child, Maeve, soon to be born at the end of February 2023. Through his daughter, in a way, he’s getting a second chance in life and will experience things he did not get the privilege to experience. Amy promises to be the best parent for their daughter and to love her like Desmond did with his loving wife.

To others, Desmond was a bright and beautiful soul who provided strength and love to those around him. He had many interests and was constantly looking to improve his knowledge and way of life to provide for his growing family. According to his mother, Magdalina, he was her everything and her sunshine. Every day her eyes would look for him by the door. His humor, quiet strength, dependability, honesty, and love will be missed by all.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, 2/18, at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Jersey City. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
