Dorothy Rakowski

Dorothy Rakowski, a lifelong Jersey City resident, passed away on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at the age of 76 years old. Dorothy graduated from Dickinson High School, Jersey City on a Friday and began working the following Monday. She began as a punch-card operator for Mutual of New York Insurance Company in Manhattan. Later she would work at Western Electric in Kearny and then Lucent Technologies in Clark. Dorothy was a very caring, warmhearted and selfless person. She was a godsend to the family who cared for her brother, mother and father over 16 years. A true symbol of a Loving Daughter and Sister.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Casimir Rakowski and Jean (nee Malek); her sister Jeanette and her brother Casimir F. Rakowski, who worked for The Jersey Journal. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother Joseph Rakowski (Leslie) who is a former acting Jersey City Mayor.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Saturday, 2/22, 9:30 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial 10:30 am at St. Ann Polish R.C. Church, Jersey City. Interment to follow Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Visitation at the funeral home Thursday, 2/20, and Friday, 2/21, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
