Gameel T. Garas, a devoted husband, generous philanthopist, and respected businessman, passed away on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025. He was 77 years old. Born on August 13th, 1948, in Luxor, Egypt, Gameel lived a life marked by hard work, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others.
In 1986, Gameel married the love of his life, Aida, with whom he shared nearly four decades of marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and love. Together, they built a life rooted in family values, generosity, and faith.
Gameel was self-employed and spent many years involved in real estate, where he was known for his integrity, determination, and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply committed to helping those in need. One of his proudest accomplishments was funding a nonprofit orphanage in Egypt, Good Samaritan Luxor, which is dedicated to caring for disabled orphans - an enduring reflection of his compassion and humanitarian spirit.
Gameel was predeceased in death by his beloved brothers, Anis Garas, Nabil Garas, and Emile Garas, and by his dear sister, Rawhia Wanas. He is survived by his loving wife, Aida Garas, and his sister, Ekbal Garas.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored him and looked to him as a father figure. Gameel's guidance, kindness, and generosity left a lasting imprint on their lives and on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gammel T. Garas will be remembered for his selflessness, his devotion to family, and his commitment to making the world a better place. His legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Wake Service on Sunday, 1/4, at St. Abanoub & St. Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church, Bayonne, from 3:00 - 4:30PM. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, 1/5, at St. Abanoub & St. Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church, Bayonne at 10:00AM. Entombment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
