Jlasphemeth Glass Obituary

On Friday, July 17, 2020, Jlasphemeth (Joe) Glass, devoted partner and father of two children, unexpectedly passed away.  He was born on June 3, 1974 in Boston, GA to Nallie Ruth Glass. Joe was a graduate of Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, GA, where he was an enthusiastic orator on the debate team, was the backbone to the news media program, and played tuba in the school band. Following high school, he attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL and became a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

After studying a degree in communications, Joe felt drawn to New York City and moved to the metropolitan area in 1998 to work as a film, audio, digital  media producer. He has been an active resident of the Jersey City community for the past 20 years. In 2001, Joe met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Liz) Rynish. They started a family and had two beautiful and beloved children, Julian and Zineya, and have continued to live in Jersey City, NJ since.

Joe, a true renaissance man, was passionate about life and experienced the beauty of the world through many creative lenses including music, film, television, food, and the arts. He was a nurturing soul, appreciating opportunities to relax and cook delicious meals for family and friends. As an avid sports fan, Joe most enjoyed watching college football and playing golf, tennis and ping-pong in his spare time.

With a smile that could brighten any room, Joe’s warmth and understanding had the power to put people’s hearts at ease. His intellect was highlighted by his unique experiences and outlook on the world. Joe’s multitude of talents took root in his early childhood and continued to grow and evolve throughout his life. He always made time to support the artistic endeavors of others, and willingly shared his many gifts to help advance fellow visionaries. Joe was an epic presence that positively influenced the lives of all who were lucky enough to know him.

Joe comes from a large extended family including many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nallie Ruth Glass. He is survived by his wife partner, Liz, his two children Julian, 8, and Zineya, 6, his sister, Lela Glass, as well as countless close friends and family.

Funeral arrangements have been made at Evergreen Funeral Home, 159 Garrison Ave, Jersey City, for August 1st from 4-8pm.  For those who would like to join virtually, please use this Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89277638358.  A benefit account has been set up for the children.
