John P. Martel

John P. Martel, 79, passed away on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. John was a lifelong Jersey City resident and enjoyed walking around the City, especially on Central Avenue. He was known as "Jersey City John" to many who would meet him on his walks. He also enjoyed his trips to Point Pleasant down the shore. John worked for many years for the Jersey City Board of Education as a Custodian before retiring.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Karen Martel and Kimberly Quinn; a sister, Madeline Klink; two grandchildren, Maureen Berman and her husband Kevin, and Timothy Quinn; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Landon and Madison Berman.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Thursday, 10:00 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial at St. Paul of the Cross RC Church, Jersey City at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting Wednesday, 1/31, from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.
