Mabel B. Alvarez

Mabel B. Alvarez, 90, passed away on Friday, February 23rd, 2024.

Mabel was born on November 20th, 1933 in Kapangan, Philippines to mother Ngamay Sabaoan and father Bantiloc Babsa-ay. She has two siblings named Angelina and Aurora. In her early life, she would work as a seamstress and repair any clothing given to her. She was also very skilled in planting fruits and vegetables. She married Victorio Alvarez and raised 2 daughters in Baguio City, Philippines while also running and owning a small corner store. She was also in charge of raising many animals such as pigs and chickens. 

On December, 2013, Mabel moved from the Philippines to Jersey City, NJ, where she would live with her daughter Melchora and her 2 grandsons Chris and Jeremie for 13 years. Mabel enjoyed taking care of the family dog, the pet birds, and the plants outside in the backyard. Mabel  also loved going to church every Sunday and always prayed during her down time.She was a generous spirit with a pleasant personality that was loved everyday by her immediate family. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her. 

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Sunday, 2/25, from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service on Monday, 2/26, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Jersey City. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
