With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and niece, Marie Vitanie Fortune, a truly kind and selfless woman who lived a beautiful and fulfilling life of 92 years.
Born in Léogâne, Haiti, to her loving parents Verelia (nee Milien) and Batissant Fortune, she carried her warmth and strength with her when she migrated to the United States in 2002. She quickly became a pillar in her community—known to many as the neighborhood babysitter, always opening her home and her heart to others. Her nurturing spirit touched countless families and children.
She was the definition of generosity. She would give the clothes off her back without hesitation and made sure no one around her ever went without a warm meal. Her cooking brought people together, and her home was always filled with love, laughter, and comfort. She was deeply loved by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy:
Her two children, Benis Sanon (67) and Adline Beauvais (60).
