Praimwattee Persaud, lovingly known as “Leila,” passed away at her home on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Leila was born in Bush Lot Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Guyana, where she was known as a bright and accomplished student, graduating at the top of her class. In March of 1976, she immigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities and built a successful life through hard work, intelligence, and dedication.
She worked for many years in the insurance and reinsurance industry in the United States and spent more than 23 years with Marsh McLennan in Hoboken, New Jersey. She was respected by colleagues and admired by family and friends for her intelligence, determination, and strong character.
Leila had a deep love for travel and especially enjoyed going on cruise ships, creating many cherished memories with family and loved ones over the years.
Leila was predeceased by her loving parents, Chandra & Seeria Persaud; she is survived by her husband, Raymond Rambarran; her sons, Jason Ramnaraine and Kevin Ramnaraine; her daughter, Janine Rambarran; her brothers, Jenda and his wife Elsie, Dado and his wife Sako, Rohan and his wife Hemo, and Bisho and his wife Sharda; her sisters, Maureen and her late husband Victor Seelall, Doreen and her husband Buddy, and Davie and her husband Boyee; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Leila will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, devotion to her family, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visiting on Sunday, 5/31, from 3:00 - 8:00PM at the funeral home. On Monday, 6/1, the Pooja Service will take place from 9:00AM - 12:00PM at the funeral home. The cremation will take place at 1:00PM at Garden State Crematory, North Bergen.
