Ramon Gil Lopez
February 7, 1965 – January 12, 2026
Ramon “Pino” Lopez, resident of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, following a brief but brave battle with cancer. Though his time with illness was short, Pino faced it with remarkable strength, courage, and an unwavering love for his family.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 7, 1965, to Gladys Roman and Ramon Lopez, Pino later made Jersey City his lifelong home. He proudly served in the United States Army, a reflection of his dedication and strong sense of duty.
Pino was predeceased by his beloved mother, Gladys Roman, and his brother, Roberto Lopez. He is survived by his father, Ramon Lopez; his sisters, Di Roman, Susie Lopez, and Leslie Lopez; his wife, Sylvia Colon; his children, Lucia Colon-Vargas and husband Richard Vargas; Hector Valle and wife Sophia Mercado; Ramon Lopez III, Jose Colon; his nephew, Giovanni Moral; and his niece, Angelina Lopez-Roman.
He was a devoted grandfather to Edward, Justin, Bernard, Aiyana, Destiny, Amiliya, Jaleena, Amily, Richard, Sophia, Nathan, and Savanna, and a cherished great-grandfather to Renesme, Kenneth, Athena, and Nicolas.
Pino will be remembered for his big heart, his generosity, and always being there for those he loved. He was our family’s handyman, the one who could fix anything and who lovingly painted all of the apartments for us. He was known for his famous fried and boneless chicken & fries, his love of French vanilla coffee, his candy and bottle of Coke, and the incredible care and affection he gave to his dogs, especially Lola.
Above all, Pino was a family man who gave endlessly of himself. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength that will live on through all who knew him.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, 1/22, from 5:00 - 9:00PM. On Friday morning we shall gather at the funeral home at 10:00AM. We shall leave the funeral home at 11:00AM for Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
Ramon “Pino” Lopez is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
