Sakuntala “Shanta” Bahadur passed away on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and quiet strength. Born in Guyana, she made her home in Jersey City in 1987, where she built a life defined by hard work and compassion.
In 1989, Shanta began her long and devoted career at Jersey City Medical Center as a grant coordinator. She remained a committed and valued member of the team for many years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues through her diligence and unwavering work ethic.
Outside of her professional life, Shanta found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. She loved knitting and crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade items for loved ones. She took pride in her gardening, nurturing life with patience and care, and she delighted in baking, sharing her creations with family and friends.
Shanta will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who treated everyone she met with warmth and respect. Her presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Survived by her daughter Sharmila, her husband Pedro, and their son Alexander
Survived by her son Tamesh, his wife Laura, their kids Himraj and Urvashi
Survived by sisters Indra and Sherrie.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 - 10:00PM. On Tuesday the Pooja Service from 9:00AM. We shall leave for Garden State Crematory, North Bergen around 12:00PM.
